Change Of
Life of
Farrokh
Bulsara
He was born on September 5,
1946 on the Island of Zanzibar
(Tanzania).
Farrokh was an
extraordinarily
handsome boy, shy
and very attached to
his mother and little
sister Kashmira.
His parents, Jer and
Bomi Bulsara, decided
to send the child to
India to receive a
good education.
Began to awaken his
love for music,
attended piano
lessons and entered
the school choir.
Very soon he formed
his first musical group,
The Hectics, an amateur
rock and roll band, in
which he occupied the
position of pianist.
His school friends
started calling
Freddie, a more
or less faithful
translation of
Farrokh into
English.
He returned to
Zanzibar in 1962
with his family, but
a couple of years
later, the Bulsara
decided to emigrate
to the United
Kingdom.
He joined the
Isleworth Polytechnic
and, during the
holidays, was
employed in
temporary jobs to
earn extra money.
Freddie insisted on
renaming the band
and the idea of
baptizing her as
Queen. At the same
time, he changed his
artistic surname and
became Freddie
Mercury.
On October 7, 1979 he
performed with the
Royal Ballet, to
interpret and dance
Bohemian Rhapsody
and Crazy little thing
called love.
At the end of 1982, Queen made a break in his
career and Mercury rented the Musicland
studios in Munich and, together with producer
Mack, entered them to record his first album
