INTRODUCTION
• The main processes involved in this type of control system is to convert a sign
language to speech by using a flex sensor.
• The flex sensor is a variable resistor like no other. The resistance of the flex
sensor increases as the body of the component bends.
• Sensors like these were used in the Nintendo Power Glove, door sensors, robot
whisker sensors, or a primary component in creating sentient stuffed animals.
• The flex sensor you linked to uses flexible conductive ink printed on flexible
base forming a resistor.
• It works when bent with the ink on the outside of the curve. When bent, the
conductive layer is stretched and thus extends, resulting in reduced cross
section.
DESIGN ELEMENTS
• 2.2 MICROCONTROLLER
• Microcontrollers as the name suggests are small controllers.
•  They are like single chip computers that are often embedded into
other systems to function as processing/controlling unit.
•  For example the remote control you are using probably has
microcontrollers inside that do decoding and other controlling
functions.
• They are also used in automobiles, washing machines, microwave
ovens, toys ... etc, where automation is needed.
