WINTER EDITION
KEEP CALM AND ENJOY THE WINTER

* Plenty of winter sports and outdoor activity opportunities are waiting for us, but winter can also be a time
of illness and injury, if you fail to take adequate health and safety precautions

* The cold temperatures of winter can pose some serious health risks for us. More than 100 viruses can
cause colds, the world’s most common illness. Once it enters the body through the nose or throat, the
cold virus begins to multiply, causing some of the following symptoms: sore throat, coughing, sneezing,
aches and pains, mild fever
HOW TO STAY HEALTHY
DURING THE WINTER

* Do not limit drinking water


* Try to keep stress to a minimum
* Eat a healthy diet
* Exercise regularly
* Wash your hands regularly
* Reduce all forms of sugar
* Get the right amount of sleep
every night
* Avoid smoking
RECOMMENDATIONS TO AVOID THE FLU
PROMOTE A STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEM!
* Get adequate rest.
* Exercise for at least 30 minutes on most days
* Choose a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and
vegetables
 
PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST GERMS!
* Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water for 20
seconds, or use an alcohol based sanitizing gel or wipe (with
at least 60% alcohol).
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs are often
spread hand-to-face.
* Try to stay at least 1m away from people who are sick
coughing, or sneezing.
* Get flu vaccination to protect you from seasonal influenza.
 
RECOMMENDATIONS TO AVOID THE FLU

PREVENT THE SPREAD OF GERMS!


* Cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm
(or sleeve) not into your hands. If you cough
or sneeze into a tissue cover both your nose
and mouth and when finished throw away the
tissue and wash your hands.
