RULES IN PLAYING
VOLLEYBALL
• Volleyball is a complicated team sport. And
should not be looked down upon. It might seem
easy but it’s not. You first have to know your
teammates and you should form a bond that is
built with trust and passion. But of course you
cannot just play without knowing first rules.
These rules are implemented to avoid questions
and issues in the game.
BASIC RULES:
• 6 players on a team, 3 on the front row and 3 on the back row.
Maximum of three hits per side
• Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not
considered a hit)
• A ball hitting a boundary line is in”
• A ball is out if it hits an antennae, the floor completely outside the
court, any of the net or cables outside the antennae, the referee
stand or pole, the ceiling above a nonplayable area. It is legal to
contact the ball with any part of a player's body.It is illegal to catch,
hold, or throw the ball.If two or more players contact the ball at the
same time, it is considered one play and either player involved may
make the next contact (provided the next contact isn’t the teams
4th hit).A player can not block or attack a serve from on or inside
the 10 foot line. After the serve, front line players may switch
positions at the net
SERVING:

• The server has 5 seconds to begin the serve from the time the official signals
the serve with a whistle.
• The service zone includes the full width of the 9-meter area behind the end
lines. The server may move freely within the service zone. At the moment of
the service hit or takeoff for a jump service, the server must be completely in
the service zone and not touching the court (end line included) or the playing
service outside the zone. After the service, the player may skip or land outside
the zone including the court.
• If the server tosses the ball and does not serve it he does NOT need to let it
bounce before he re-tosses it.
• Net Service Is In Play. A served ball that hits the net does not result in the
service team losing its serve. The net serve is considered in-play, unless 1) it
does not continue over the net or 2) lands outside the opposing team’s court-
side untouched by the opposing team.

• Rally scoring will be used.

• There will be a point scored on every score of the ball.
