Food Waste Warriors

From garbage to garden!

What is the current situation?
According to NOLISOLI.PH and Environmental Management
Bureau:
 Food scraps or waste constitutes 33% of the total trash output
in the Philippines.
 However, only 27% of food waste is recycled.
 Food waste output has increased by 30% over the last
decade.
Problem:
 Accumulation of food waste that emits
methane, one of the greenhouse gases.
Hence, making a great contribution to
global warming.
Existing Solution:

 Here in Philippines, it is not a common practice to

segregate food waste or “compostable”. In addition,
composting is not usually done here since it consumes
time which most Filipinos hate, the reason why we only
use normal trash bin.
Is the existing solution enough?

 The existing solution is not then fully

addressed because it still engages on problems
such as the reeking of smell due to spoilage
and some are being thrown together with non
bio wastes.
Proposed solution:
Compared to a
normal trash bin,
zero waste compost
bin can convert
food waste into
pulverized waste
that can be used as
compost for plants
The household population of the Philippines reached 100.57 million persons in 2015. This is
8.48 million higher than the 92.10 million household (2015 Census of Population).
