GST
• GST is the amount of indirect tax levied by the
Central and State Government on the sale and
purchase of goods and services. It is based on
the principle of ‘One Nation, One Tax.’
• Goods: Every physical object that can be sold
for money.
• Services: Anything that cannot be seen or
touched. For example, doctors looking after
their patients, teacher at a school, etc.

SGST (State GST): the amount of GST collected by the

is 12%, find:
(1) the MP of the TV.
(2) Consumer’s CP for the TV inclusive of tax.
(3) GST paid by the retailer to the Central and State Govt.
Question 3: The printed price of a carpet is Rs. 2500. A wholesaler in West Bengal
buys the carpet from a manufacturer in Delhi at a discount of 12% on the printed
price. The wholesaler sells the carpet to a retailer in Bihar at 32% above the MP.
If the rate of GST is 5%, find:
(1) the price inclusive of the tax at which the wholesaler bought the carpet.
(2) the price inclusive of the tax at which the retailer bought the carpet.
(3) the tax paid by the wholesaler to the Govt.
(4) the tax received by the Central Govt.
