1) Select phase
Depending on selected BTS product line user needs to provide basic information related to baseband configuration (Master and/or Extension System
Module in Flexi case, number of WSPA, WSPC or WSPF cards in Ultra Site case)
In case when RF chaining feature is selected user has to specify how many sites are connected to one BTS. Number of sites is described by 'Sites
per BTS' parameter.
Next parameter called 'No. of BTSs' describes how many BTSs of particular BTS type are defined in given phase.
In RU30 / I-HSPA rel.4 if at least one SM rel.2/EUBB subrack was selected additional parameter called "HSDPA BTS peak throughput" needs to be
provided by user. HSDPA BTS peak thr. defines the maximum HSDPA thr. that can be achieved with System Modules rel.2. Based on this parameter
tool calculates required number of HSDPA licenses (HSDPA BTS processing steps). HSDPA BTS peak thr. can be equal or lower than HSDPA BB
thr. (please see description below) which is applicable for HSDPA baseband resources allocation on SM rel.2/EUBB subrack
Next fields of 'BTS details' menu contains parameters related to HSPA schedulers. The parameters are:
Scheduler name - HSDPA scheduler name. In case of RU30/I-HSPA rel.4 scheduler needs to be selected per System Module (unless only HW rel.1
is selected).
Max number of HSPA cells per scheduler - number of cells assigned to shared scheduler (not applicable for RU30/I-HSPA rel.4 with SM rel.2/EUBB)
Max HSDPA throughput - In RU30/I-HSPA rel.4 user needs to specify max HSDPA BB throughput for HSDPA scheduler located at SM rel.2/EUBB.
Based on this value tool calculates HSDPA scheduler baseband resources.
Min HSUPA L1 throughput - The maximum HSUPA combined L1 throughput. Please note that for HSUPA case tool decides where HSUPA scheduler
will be allocated, therefore in some cases (e.g. 2 SM rel.2 selected with L1 thr<>"N/A") and all HSUPA users can be allocated at one System Module,
the second System Module is without HSUPA.

NoRel99OnlyCarr – is the number of Rel99 only carriers resulting from traffic calculation procedure. It is a result of traffic
calculation procedure per each layer.
NoSharedCarr – is the number of Rel99/HSPA shared only carriers resulting from traffic calculation procedure. It is a result
of traffic calculation procedure per each layer.

DESCRIPTION
This condition check the difference between averaged DL Rel99 load without voice AMR5.9 and
product of noumber of all carriers, DLCellLoad and AMRCallThreshold
If condition is true then re-dimensioning of air interface capacity can be considered as completed.
Nothing changes
If condition is false then traffic model update is proceeding
After each iteration, it has to be checked if estimated number of AMR12.2 users is appropriate and
don’t increase the total number of carriers per area, phase and layer
DEFINITIONS
NoOfCarriers – total number of carriers, both NoRel99OnlyCarr and NoSharedCarr
AMRCallThreshold – is the percentage parameter of total cell load which cause if next calculation are
performed
DEFINITIONS
DataRateAMR12.2Bearer – is the AMR12.2 bearer data

DESCRIPTION
If one of above conditions is true, algorithm 2 is selected
If both of above conditions is false, nothing changes
When algorithm 2 is used all of AMR12.2 traffic is shifted to AMR5.9 traffic
In general, if per area AMR5.9 service was not defined, it will be added in traffic demand and traffic
assignment window for this area
If next to AMR5.9 service also AMR12.2 service exists in traffic demand so it doesn’t have to be
introduced – all AMR 12.2 traffic will be shifted to AMR 5.9
If there is only AMR5.9 service defined the algorithm 2 will not be performed

Network configuration panel enables setting parameters common for all calculation modules (Coverage
module, Capacity module and BaseBand module).
Services may be created, deleted, enabled and disabled using the buttons in yellow group.
The services that may be created are the data transmission and voice services based on
different voice codecs.
User can also specify for which of enabled calculation modules (Coverage - cov and Capacity and
baseband - cap) and phases certain service will be assigned - separately for each one of the
created services. Please note that there must be assigned at least one service for every enabled
calculation module in each phase.
Traffic model drop-down menu (marked red) enables user to choose from several traffic models:
• Data Volume per subscriber - traffic that is generated by single subscriber of certain service in specific area
and phase
• Throughput per subscriber - the throughput that is generated by single subscriber of certain service in each
phase
• Data Volume per area - traffic that is generated by all subscribers of certain service in specific area and phase
• Throughput per area - the throughput that is generated by all subscribers of certain service in each phase
• BHCA, call/session duration and activity per subscriber – busy hour call attempts, etc.

Output parameters are automatically calculated by the tool, using necessary input parameters and their values can
not be changed by the user.
Input parameters (active) are necessary to be set by user accordingly to the simulation requirements.
Input parameters (inactive) are parameters that can not be changed in this moment due to the other parameters
values – for example switching some parameters to User defined (for example Deployment Class in Propagation
parameters’ group) will cause that group of inactive parameters (BTS Antenna Height, Average Penetration Loss,
etc.) will become active – user will be able to edit them.
Number of subscribers determines the number of all users in configured area – active
users, inactive users and users with switched off terminals.
Number of subscribers determines the number of all users in configured area – active users, inactive users
and users with switched off terminals – this parameter’s value is taken from traffic calculation panel.
Share of active users determines how many of the subscribers are active – both signaling and data radio
bearers are established and active.
