[ow] owe To make [ow], start with the tongue [ɔ] awe
curved about halfway up in the back, the
jaws half open, and the lips rounded.
Glide the tongue further up and back,
and round the lips more closely, while
voicing the vowel.
Make [ɔ] with the tongue low, pulled
back, and higher in the back than in
front. (but not as high as for [ow]). The
jaws should be quite open, and the lips
slightly rounded . Do not glide the tongue
or round the lips further while voicing the
vowel.
The Vowels [ɔ/a]

To make [^] with the tongue curved
about halfway up in the center, the jaws
half open, and the lips relaxed.
Make [u] with the tongue curved rather
high in the back , the jaws slightly open,
and the lips rounded. Do not glide the
tongue or round the lips further while
voicing the vowel.
Both [^] and [u] are short sounds.
