TITLE
Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Preparedness
of Bagumbayan National
High School; An Assessment
OBJECTIVES
To determine the school’s disaster
preparedness, especially with the
Big One (Big earthquake).
Respondent or Participant

All grade 11 student in Bagumbayan

National High School.
Background of the Study
These activities all fall under the
concept of preparedness, because
to be effective, they must be done
before earthquakes occur.
Statement of the Problem
1.What is the profile of respondents
a. Age
b. Sex
c. Strand
2.What is the level of preparedness of school in terms of:
a. School Disaster Preparedness Policy.
b. Evacuation Area
c. Mock Drill
d. Emergency Procedure
3. Is there significant difference on the Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Preparedness of Bagumbayan National High School when group according to profile
of respondents?
Hypothesis
There is no significant difference on the
Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Preparedness of Bagumbayan National High
School when group according to profile of
respondents:
• Age
• Sex
• Strand
Conceptual Framework
This study shows the process on how the program of risk reduction
will happen inside the Bagumbayan National High School.
Significance of the Study
The significant of this study aims to determine the Disaster Risk
Reduction Management Preparedness of Bagumbayan National
High School; An Assessment. It will give essential insight also to the
following:

Bagumbayan National High School – The study will help the school
to gain information about Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
education because of the massive impacts it has felt over the past
few years as a result of the earthquakes, landslides and floods it has
had to face. DRR will be a great way to reduce the impacts because
it will help promote resilience as well as save lives and properties.
Students – This study they can transfer the
knowledge to members of their families, it
becomes general knowledge and the community
can prepare as well.

Researchers – This study they can anticipate

disasters. Participating in earthquake and
tsunami drills is important but we also need to
understand why disasters do happen and what we
can do to reduce their -negative impact.
Future Researchers – This study they will know
the importance of the concept of DRR because it
will open their eyes to be concerned more about
the possible situations that people in our
community may encounter.

Parents – This study will help them to inform

about the preparedness of the earthquake
specially for their kids.
Scope and Limitation
The focuses on the effects of preparedness
in earthquake in grade 11 students. The
data collection will be conducted to 190 of
the population of grade 11 of Bagumbayan
National High School, school year 2019-2020
who will represent the population.
This study will not cover other problems
that are not consider on how they will be
prepared in the earthquake. The study
would be done through the utilization of
questionnaire to the students as a survey
and reference. By their strategy the
researchers will be able to know the effect
of the earthquake to grade 11 students.
Research Methodology
Researchers chose stratified random
sampling from Grade 11 learners. The methods
that they used in this study was frequency
measurement. The Slovin’s formula was used
to get the total of all respondents. To gather the
data, they use survey questionnaire. For the
final result, they used T- test and Annova.
Findings
The findings showed that most of the
respondents are having an age ranging from
16 years old and above, coming from
Accountancy and Business Management
strand (ABM) and mostly females. It also
showed that most of the students are
satisfied regarding to the preparedness of
the school in Disaster Risk Management.
Conclusion
As the final result, the researchers’ hypothesis became
accepted. Therefore, the researcher conclude that there is
no significant difference on the Disaster Risk Reduction
Management Preparedness of Bagumbayan National High
School when the group is according to the profile of
respondents. Which means, all the preparation and
program that may take are not related to the demographic
profile of the respondents. Which means, all preparation
and program that may take are not related to the
demographic of the students.
Recommendation
• Consult the Disaster Risk Reduction Management
(DRRM) to get a lot of information on how to be
prepared during disaster.

• The school should have a complete material that be

needed in case of emergency.

• Improve the Disaster Risk Reduction Program inside

the school such as teach basic knowledge on being
prepared.
• Improved the Disaster Risk Reduction activity
area that make the students comfortable
during the program.

• Explore and conduct a study that shows

preparedness on disaster risk that helps you
aware.
