POLICY
DEPED ORDER NO. 40 S. 2012
PROHIBITED ACTS
1. Child Abuse- refers to maltreatment of a child whether
habitual or not, which includes the ff.:
a. Psychological abuse/emotional maltreatment
b. physical abuse
c. neglect
d. cruelty
e. sexual abuse
f. Unreasonable deprivation
of the child’s basic needs for survival
g. Failure to immediately give medical treatment
2. Discrimination against children

3. Child exploitation- use of children for


someone’s advantage
a.Sexual exploitation
b.Economic exploitation
4. Violence against children committed in
school
a. Physical violence
b. Sexual harassment
c. Psychological violence
5. Corporal punishment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES OF
SCHOOL PERSONNEL
• Exercise special parental authority and
responsibility
• Support, educate and instruct them by right
precept and good example
• Practice positive and
non-violent discipline.
• Establish a
Child Protection Committee.
CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTEE
Composed of:
1. School Head/Administrator
2. Guidance Counselor/Teacher- Vice Chairperson
3. Representative of the Teachers
4. Representative of the Parents
5. Representative of pupils, students and learners
6. Representative from the community (BCPC Member)

CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LIAIBILITY


Criminal and civil liability arising from a child
abuse, discrimination, exploitation, and other acts
of abuse are separate and distinct, and shall not
be a bar to the filing of an administrative case
under these guidelines.
