WHAT IS NOISE ?
Technically speaking, when the sound waves are
periodic, regular and of long duration they
produce a pleasing effect and such a sound is
known as musical sound.
On the contrary, when the sound waves are non
periodic, irregular & of short duration, they
produce unpleasing effect, such a sound is known
as noise.
It is the unwanted sound which may be hazardous to
health, interferes with communications or is
disturbing.
Dizziness
Digestive problems
Mental stress
Loss of concentration
Anxiety
Antisocial behavior
Violent activity
FEW GOOD EFFECTS OF
NOISE
A reasonable level of background noise is sometimes useful,
e.g.
(i) the masking of speech so that speech
privacy
in large areas is maintained.
(ii) minimizing the effect of intruding noises.
(iii) maintaining the sanity of human beings: human
beings cannot tolerate absolute silence in a perfect
soundproof environment for any length of time.
