Why ???

 Today’s online ecosystem is fuelled by an ad industry riddled with fraud

and poor consumer experience.
 There’s no privacy and publishers lose money to ad-tech intermediaries.
 Consumers remain confused about where their data is being used.
Tracking and data monetization remain prevalent on the web.
 Online Privacy and Experience Sentiment survey found that 33% of web
users have not changed their privacy settings from default values on
Google. “Opt out” not enough to protect users.
 Free and open source web browser- Anyone is freely licensed to use, study etc.

 Privacy-oriented browser- rooted in privacy-by-default and provides an equally

beneficial environment to users, advertisers, and publishers

 Basic Attention Token- Open source, decentralized ad exchange platform based

on Etherum.

 Brave rewards – Brave shares 70% of their ad share revenue. Users and
publishers can opt in to receive Brave awards
vs Others
 Braveblocks all third party requests and cookies by default
without any extensions to prevent users from being tracked
online.
  Usershave the choice to view relevant ads, and advertisers are
certain that they reach attentive consumers. Also, users get
rewarded
 Other
browsers follow, tag and track consumers without their
knowledge and users cannot stop personalized ads unlike Brave.
 Brave’s
click-through rate is 14%, compared to the industry
average of 2%.
Important barriers to Brave’s future
 Brave introduced a scheme where users who chose to see adverts would be
paid a cut of the advertising revenue.
 In spite of this, statistics show Chrome’s popularity is undiminished.
Important barriers to Brave’s future
 Trust issues-The Facebook URLs that are used to track users were included
in Brave’s whitelist. This caused a huge disappointment among users because
Brave was supposedly a secure browser, focused on user privacy
 Today, there’s no way for users who receive BAT for viewing ads to swap
their digital currency for dollars, but Eich says Brave will partner with
cryptocurrency exchanges to make that possible.
 Removing ads from websites means you are removing a revenue stream for
content creators who rely on advertising revenue to keep their content
flowing

.
Whitelist-a list of websites considered to be acceptable or trustworthy
Conclusions
 Brave offers better security features. It uses HTTPS secure connections and blocks ads to
ensure smooth surfing

 Brave, unlike other browsers has a built in ad-blocking feature

 Brave is an open source software, thereby enhancing the user’s privacy and security

 With all its advantages, Brave can sometimes not work well with all websites.

 For people wanting to surf with minimum interface, Brave offers a host of features which can
enable the user to do so. However the limitation of not being able to add extensions can be
somewhat of a hindrance to some users.
