Virginia Apgar‘s method of evaluating newborn infant

Virginia Apgar‘s method of evaluating newborn infant is now in standard use


to evaluate the newborn one minute after birth.
It is useful to make serial Apgar score: the longer the score remaine low the
worse the prognosis with regard to mortality or neurological sequel.
Total score:
8 – 10 Good
3 -7 Fair
0–2 Poor condition
