There are two methods for organizing
a comparison / contrast paragraph
• First Method (Block organization)
• From it’s title one can predict it ( it will look likes
block) .
• Here we deal with two topics. What you need to do is to
find similarities and the differences between them in
order to write the comparison/contrast.
• First you have to write about points regarding the first
topic .
• Second you have to compare these point of the first
topic with a similar or different point in the second
topic.
This method divide the paragraph into 3 parts.

Like what we did in page 12 in your book.

book page 44.
The second method
• Point-by-point organization
• Here we have to compare and contrast point by
points from the two topics.
• That means one point about the two topics .
Then second point about the two topics also
...etc.
• For more clarifications check the example in
your book page 45.
Writing about advantage and
. disadvantages
• One more way to practice compare / contrast is
in the form of showing advantage or
disadvantage.
• If you are asked to write about one topic . You
will write about the advantages and
disadvantages of that topic. In 2 paragraphs.
• If you are asked to compare / contrast two topics
used either point-by-point / block style.
Note
• 1 . These methods might seem complicated. Thus,
what is required from you only the last page with
red colour. Ok.
• 2 . And the most important point, regarding your
report. Each one of you is required to write a
report about chapter 7+8. Only from page (50-62 )
• One may ask how and about what. Look students
read it well again read it well then write about the
most important points . About 2-3 pages ( two
paper).
