FACILITIES

Library
The University Of Malaya Library encompasses a network of libraries and through this network the library
is able to provide comprehensive services and facilities using the discipline-based approach. The provision
of facilities and services to the campus community is clearly stated in the three Library Quality
Management Procedures, namely:
◦ UM-PT08-PK01 : Library Collection Department
◦ UM-PT08-PK02 : Library Client Services
◦ UM-PT08-PK03 : Management of Education and Training.
Through the Library’s home page at http://umlib.um.edu.my, one is able to explore the multitude of
services as well as the various facilities available to the users. The collection within the library has been
developed in line with the teaching, learning and research of the University. The library holds more than
1.4 million tittles with over 2.1 million items in various formats. In addition to that the library provides
access to more than 85 online databases compromising of more than 46,000 e-journals tittles and more than
150,000 e-book tittles.

SERVICES
Health Services
The physically and mental well-being of each of over 15,000 university students, faculty member and staff is an
important consideration to the university and this is reflected in the university’s commitment of expert, expedient and
excellent health care for the staff and students.
The Student Health Clinic provides cheap health care for its student of all levels, to the top class University of Malaya
Medical Centre which offers its services to staff, students as well as the general public. Counselling are also provided.
The health services provided are:
◦ Vaccinations
◦ University Hospital with surgical and emergency room facilities
◦ Referral Letters to Government and University Hospitals
◦ Individual counselling
◦ Group counselling
◦ Student insurance
Transportation and Travel
As for the transportation and travel, the Transportation Unit of the Student Affairs and Alumni department has
provided 22 buses including 3 mini buses and a total of 16 drivers under its care and management to provide
services to its student and staff. The shuttle bus services route divided to four station:
◦ Station 1 - Pantai Dalam/ Kerinchi/ Vista
◦ Station 2 - Section 17, International House and Jalan Universiti
◦ Station 3 - Shuttle in campus
◦ Station 4 - Ninth Residential College
Bus services are provided for student societies and department activities for a certain charge available on
Monday to Friday from 7:00 PM to end of activity and as for Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays and during
semester break, buses are provide for the whole day. They also provide other buses services for free such as for
attending funerals of UM staff or student, Friday prayer, during registrations day or enrollment of new students,
for convocations week for students and parents as well as during all programmes held by the University.
UM Mobile App
Pusat Teknologi Maklumat (PTM) has developed a mobile application for University of Malaya known as Univesiti Of Malaya
Mobile App (UM Mobile App) as an alternative to its web system. This mobile application can be downloaded and be used for
devices operating on the Android and IOS platforms. Among the module in the UM Mobile application are:
◦ News and Events
- The latest News and Events display from Um and will be notified of the latest News and Events.
◦ Status Helpdesk
- Display a lists of Helpdesk complaints information made by staff or students and can monitor the status of the Helpdesk.
◦ QRCode
- Record staff and student attendance through QRCode scans in e-Attendance, e-Meeting and Spectrum Systems.
◦ Academic Calendar
- View a list of key dates in the Academic Calendar.
◦ Student account balance
- Students can check their latest financial information balance in the mobile applications.
◦ Student subject registration
- Students can review their subject registration status for each semester.
