INTRODUCTION
. Perhaps the first task of every teacher in the classroom
should be to know the individual differences among his
pupils.
. No two individual are alike.
. Every individual is different from the other.
. Individuals differ in physique (i.e., size , shape,
appearance ), intelligence, attitudes, aptitudes,
achievement, memory , thinking, reasoning, imagination,
problem solving, creativity , concentration, habits , skills ,
sentiments , aims ambitions, sociability etc.
. In psychology we call these differences as ‘ individual
differences ’.
MEANING AND DEFINITIONS
 Skinner’s view , “Today we think of individual
differences as including any measurable aspect of
the total personality ”.
 C.V. Good’s view , “ The variations or deviations
among individual is regarded to a single character
or a number of characters. These differences which
in their totality distinguish one individual from
other ”.
 Charles Darwin’s view, “ No two individuals of
the same race are quite alike, we may compare
millions of faces and each will be distinct ”.

DIFFRENCES IN LEARNERS :
 1.Differences in emotions: Many types of individual
differences are found in emotions. Emotions are important forces in the education
and development of the child. Emotions are said to be the springs of actions. Like
smell in the flower, they are present in every activity of human being.

 2. Differences in values: We find wide differences


among individuals in the nature of values held by human beings. Some are
materialistic while others give weightage to the social, cultural, moral, spiritual or
human values in their life at one occasion .values are different .They are play an
important role in (1) moral development,(2)cultural development etc.

 3.Differences in attitudes: Individual differ in


attitude. One of the important objectives of the education is the development of
desirable attitudes in the students. Teacher should develop a variety of healthy
attitudes in the students-attitude towards studies , attitude towards self, attitude
towards friends and class fellows, attitude towards certain ideals.
 4.Differences in psycho-motor
skills: There are wide variations and differences
among individual in development of psycho-motor
skills .These differences can be observed right
from the early childhood period. some children are
very efficient and quick in performing the skilled
tasks like reading, jumping, dancing, singing,
sketching .While the other children are not so
efficient and competent.
CONCLUSION :
 Every human being is being different in physically
as well as mentally . So when we consider students,
they also have individual differences. Some are
normal and some are exceptional. Thus when it
comes to dealing this individual differences of such
exceptional children one should know their
description.
 They are children with learning disabilities, gifted
students, emotionally disturbed children and
mentally challenged students where some of the
educational provision can be given in order to
improve their life.
