- an organism whose genome has been altered through


genetic engineering in order to favor the expression
of desired physiological traits or the production of
desired biological products.

insecticides or even herbicide

– the donor organism is a naturally occurring soil
bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis,
bt technology

– Bacillus thuringiensis, a soil bacterium, produces


several crystal (Cry) protein toxins that destroy the
gut of invading pests, such as larval caterpillars.
