USAGE EXAMPLES
a) To show an action that happened in the past. Ali watered the plants at 8a.m. today.

c) The simple past tense is formed: 1) By adding ‘d’ to the words ending in ‘e’.

2) By adding ‘ed’ to the verb
Examples : clean – cleaned , climb - climbed ,

3) By adding ‘ied’ to words ending with ‘y’ except


when the ‘y” follows a vowel.

4) By adding consonant + ‘ed’
Examples: chop – chopped , drop – dropped,
