WHAT IS THE COMPUTER?

 A Computer is an electronic device that accepts information,


stores it until the information is needed, processes the
information according to the instructions provided by the
user and finally returns the results to the user.
 A computer makes decisions based on simple comparisons
such as one number lager than another.
 Although the computer can help save tremendous variety of
problems, it is simply a machine it can not solve problems
on its on.
 There are two types of computers namely Analog and
Digital computers.

Analog Computers
 analog computers are computers that measure changing
conditions like temperature, pressure, and convert the
numerical into quantities within the range.
digital computers
 digital computers can give precise and measurable
results.

Computer resources
 there are three major resources of computers namely
hardware, software and firmware
 hardware: this is a term used to describe the various
physical components of a computer e.g. mother board,
processer etc.
 software: this is the term used to describe the various
programs running on the computer e.g. operating
system, microsoft office etc.

 Firmware: this is the term referred to the
hardware with software embedded in
them by the manufacturer , software and
cannot be separated, e.g. read only
memory (ROM).

INFORMATION
 Data is any collection of numbers, characters or other
symbols that has been coded into a format that can be input
of the computer and processed.
 data can be described as unprocessed figures
 information is data that has been processed into a form that
is meaningful to recipient.
