Assistant Professor, MSEC.
OBJECTIVE
• In Easun-MR they are developing new type of on-load tap
changers for that we need to design a assembly
fixtures.

• Design of assembly fixtures for online tap changer.

ON-LOAD TAP CHANGERS
• On-load tap changer (OLTC) is a tap changer
in applications where a supply interruption
during a tap change is unacceptable, the
transformer is often fitted with a more
expensive and complex on load tap changing
mechanism.
• On load tap changers may be generally
classified as either mechanical, electronically
assisted, or fully electronic.
OLTC SELECTOR
• Selector is a part of
on-load tap changers.

• Selector helps
selecting various load.
Things to be improved
• Man power requirements
• Rate of production
• As stated above those two things can be improved in the
assembly of newly designed selector of the OLTC
• Those improvements can be simply be achieved by using the
assembly fixture
• The design of the assembly fixture will be shown in the
following slides

without groove

FRP board of the selector
ASSEMBLY FIXTURES
• A fixture is a work-holding or support device used in
the manufacturing industry.
• Fixtures are used to securely locate (position in a specific
location or orientation) and support the work, ensuring that all
parts produced using the fixture will maintain conformity and
interchangeability.
• Fixtures that are used during assembly of a product is called
assembly fixture.

PROJECT PROGRESS
• We are in the final stage of the design we have
identified all the problems that arose during
the design phase and also were able to provide
suitable and efficient solutions to those
problems we encountered and we designed
each parts separately and assembled them with
all the constraints intact as shown in the
previous page.
