THESIS:

• How do you know, your

perceptions are real or
not?
I. Introduction
The question is focused to answer how do I
know my perceptions are real or not? And to
answer this question it is important to know
the meaning of perception and real.

Perception is the ability to see, hear or

become aware of something and Real is the
authentic unchangeable truth.
-Wikipedia
II. Argument:
I can experience my perceptions directly. I may perceive
things correctly or incorrectly, but either way, a perception
exists, and is therefore real.

According to berkely and later idealist, “to be is to be

perceive” or “esse percipi est” (Principles of Human
knowledge, Section 3). Based on Berkeley’s principle of
perception, If I can perceive something, it is real. All the ideas
I have in my mind are somehow real; not necessarily physical
though. So even things like unicorn and angels are real,
because they can be perceive.
Like what Edward De Bono
said, “ Perception is real even
when it is not reality”.
III. Counter Argument:
Some people consider our perception as it is not
real.
According to Jim Harbaugh “Perception is not
reality. People have always said that perception is
reality. I rejected that hypothesis”.
“Perceptions are not real, there is only one
consciousness it's doing the act of awareness, the
one aware is consciousness” According to Hiram
IV. Summary and Conclusion.
I will still hold on that my perceptions are
real. I know the events that I experiencing
right now is real.

People have different beliefs of philosophy

but for me everything that I experience, see,
feel and hear are all real.
