 Why is the answer B?

(woman) : Did Bob memorize every detail in the chapter?

(man) : He wasn’t able to master the lesson
(narrator) : What does the man say about Bob?

Master=learn
It means that wasn’t able to master = couldn’t learn
Exercise 1 : Focus on the last line
Why is the answer A?
(woman) : Do we have enough food for all the guests who
are attending the reception this evening?
(man) :The refrigerator’s about to burst.
(narrator) : What does the man mean?

Burst = completely full, it means that there are enough food in

the refrigerator for reception.
Burst = plenty (more than enough)
Exercise 2: Choose answer with synonyms
 Why is the answer B?

The synonyms of words “salt and pepper” are spices.

The synonym of word “enough” is adequate.
So, the correct choice is B (The spices are adequate )
Exercise 3: Avoid similar sound
 Why is the answer C?

The avoided sound is “ Pair”

• The answer A , the word “pairs” is similar sound to pair.
• The answer B, the word “pears” is similar sound to pair.
• The answer C, there is no similar sound to the word pair.

The statement “ I’ll say! means the man agrees that the party is very fun.
• The answer A means that the party is not fun
• The answer B means the man is shocked if the woman enjoy the party herself
• The answer C means the man wants to know about woman’s statement
• The answer D means that the man also enjoy the party. It indicates that the party is
fun for him
