SMART MAILBOX

get notified
ABSTRACT
The smart mail box, will replace the traditional
mailbox, notifying the user whenever a new mail is
dropped into the mailbox. Notification will be sent
via text sms.
INTRODUCTION
A smart mailbox which will notify the user, whenever
he/she receives a mail.
FEATURES
• Get notified when a new mail arrives
• Power efficient
• Can be used with battery/power bank
• Portable
• Easy to use
• SMS notification of new mail
TARGET
• There is no way to notify residents when a mail
arrives in their mail box.

• Smart mailbox is the solution for this real life

problem, whenever a postal service representative
delivers mail into resident’s mailbox. The user
receives an SMS, notifying the delivery of a new
mail.
METHODOLOGY (Language Used)

• C/C++
SOFTWARE USED
• Arduino IDE
• Fritzing (For circuit design)
HARDWARE COMPONENTS
• Arduino UNO
• PIR Motion Sensor
• Laser Diode
• Photo resistor
• GSM Module (SIM900)
• SIM Card
• Power adapter
• Breadboard & Jumper wires

TIMELINE
The design of the smart mailbox is a combination of
laser trip alarm & motion sensing device.
The inputs from the sensors are then used to send sms
notification to the user, whenever the sensor value is
high (or desired value is present).

CONCLUSION
• The smart mail box, will replace the traditional
mailbox, notifying the user whenever a new mail is
dropped into the box.
• User will be notified via text sms/e-mail, whenever a
new mail arrives.
• Time at which the mail was dropped.
• Current status of the mail box (empty/occupied)
FUTURE SCOPE
• The smart mailbox will have a major impact on
the lives of people, making life easier.
• In the era of home automation, this will be an
add on to the smart gadgets.
• This technology will make sure that the user
does not miss to read any new mail received.
