The history of national clothes
In XVI century suit for men
consisted of shirt ,leggings and
short puffed trousers on them,
tight waistcoat with lace.
Compulsory thing was gloves.
Men always had them in their
hands. Also the suit was an ideal
of soldier at that time.The collar
was an important part of the
suit.It was usually white. There
was a high black cotton hat and
purple velvet or organdie cloak.
They were wearing lace-up
boot.
Women were wearing the
overdresses. It was usually made
of velvet or georgette. This dress
was violet or burgundy colour
with polo neckline and baggy
flimsy sleeves. There were a lot
of different lace trimmings
(Beads, prints,braids or
pipings).This dress was bell-
shaped and had a dirndl .Tight
waist outlined feminine
look.Women were wearing flat
heel shoes.
In XVIII century national suit for
men in Spain consisted of teal or
black velvet cloak, black knee-
length puffed trousers and
handcrafted, close-fitting,
trimmed with lace waistcoat.Also
we can see a red colour on their
clothes and cartwheel hat with
feathers.As for women,they were
wearing plush rustic velvet dress
with red lace trimming on it and
long puffed sleeves. There was a
round stand-up collar .They had
loafer on their foots.
Modern national clothes of Spain
It is often said that Spain is the
most passionate country.And
we can see it from their
national customs and of course
from their clothes.Every woman
in Spain should have it.This
cloth is a long velvet dirndl
dress with one-shoulder
neckline and empire waist. Red
colour is also important for this
cloth.Woman always have a red
flower at the head and mid-heel
evening shoes.
Men have a felt hat at the
head.They are wearing a
black loose wide-leg
trousers with red satin
belt on the waist.There is
a black cotton waistcoat
with red lace trimming
and crew neckline.They
are wearing white blouse
with smocked sleeves
and lace on the neck.
