What is the word “personality”?
Personality, a characteristic way
of thinking , feeling, and behaving.
Personality embraces moods,
attitudes, and opinions and is most
clearly expressed in interactions with
other people. It includes behavioral
characteristics, both inherent and
acquired, that distinguish one
person from another and that can be
observed in people’s relations to
the environment and to the social
group.
Personality that influenced our
civilization
Throughout human history there have been many
personalities who have influenced our civilization. One such
personality is Florence Nightingale.
About Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale (12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910) was an
English social reformer, statistician and the founder of
modern nursing. Nightingale came to prominence while serving
as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in
which she organised care for wounded soldiers.She gave nursing
a favourable reputation and became an icon of Victorian culture,
especially in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making
rounds of wounded soldiers at night.

1. During the Crimean war, Nightingale gained the nickname
"The Lady with the Lamp’’.
2. Nightingale wrote Notes on Nursing (1859). The book served
as the cornerstone of the curriculum at the Nightingale
School and other nursing schools, though it was written
specifically for the education of those nursing at home.

Her theories, published in Notes on Nursing in 1860, greatly


influenced the way nurses were trained, and her concerns about
health, military health, and hospital planning established
practices that applied to Nowadays.
