Information
Real money gambling in India continues to grow at
a rate of 20% per year, despite the restrictions in
place. The Indian market could exceed $1 billion by
2021.
In the past decade, 80% of Indians gamble at least
once a year, either on sports, casino table games,
or slots.
It’s estimated that sports better could generate over
$50 billion per year, which could swell federal tax
coffers by $2 billion.
The gambling act made it illegal to operate a
venue where gambling took place.
Despite the existing prohibitive legislations, there is
extensive illegal gambling throughout the country. The
Indian gambling market is estimated to be worth
US$60 billion per year, of which about half is illegally
bet.
