We can use the past simple instead
of “used to” with no difference in meaning.
e.g. She used to live in town.
She lived in town. We form questions and negations with the auxiliary verb did/didn’t, did/didn’t the subject and the verb “use” without –d. • Did you use to play with your friends when you were 5 years old? • I didn’t use to drink milk when I was a child.
