What Is the RAID 0,1,5 &10

 • Definition of raid:

Raid:

meaning redundant grouping of independent drives, is a technique For distributing informaion across multiple hard drives to make computers safer, Faster , and more reliable .

It has severl types represented in :

•RAID 0

•RAID 1

•RAID 5

•RAID 10
 1. RAID 0 :
RAID 0:
(also known as tape set or tape volume) divides data evenly across two or more disks, as it is

very fast to read and write but its drawback is the lack of data protection, and one disk

corruption means all data is lost.

With regard to the total space generated by the integration of hard drives

the Following example explains:

DISK 0 + DISK 1= SPACE GENERATED (2 TB +2 TB=4TB)

 2. RAID 1:
RAID 1:
unlik RAID 0,combines two hard disks, RAID 1 increases Security if one drive fails the other takes charge

automatically and the downside is that it is slow to read and write information.

With regard to the total space generated by the integration of hard drives.

the Following example explains:

DISK 0 =2TB and DISK 1=2TB, SPACE GENERATED =2TB .

 3. RAID 5 :
RAID 5:
is better than its predecessors(RAID 0, RAID 1) as it has both advantages
(speed and security) consisting of three hard disks at least where in the event
of damage to one of the disks data will not be lost ,RAID 5 divides the data
on the disks as the picture shows:

With regard to the total space generated by the integration of

hard drives the following example explains:

DISK 0=2TB AND DISK 1=2TB AND DISK 2=2TB

SPACE GENERATED =4TB (always keep a backup disk for data security).
 4. RAID 10:

RAID 10:

combines RAID 0 and 1, it has RAID 0 speed and RAID 1 security in saving data, but it needs
more hard drives and divides the data on the disks as shown in the picture :
 CONCLUSION

• Among the types of RAID that we have explained, in my opinion RAID 5 is the best in terms of
security, speed of data transfer and storage.
