The research has concluded that cyber crime in India has been increased manifold in recent
years. Large numbers of call centers and recession are considered as the main factors
responsible for increase in cyber crime rate.
The report primarily focuses on financial cyber crime, particularly frauds related to credit card
and hacking of IDs. In recent years, cases of financial cybercrime have been raised
significantly. It is also expected that the crime rate will pick a pace with further growth of
communications technology and reaches regions of the world with many underemployed poor
people with IT skills who can make the most of cybercrime opportunities.
According to study, cybercriminal activity rate is still less in India as compared to other
emerging economies, but in recent years there has been a vast increase, which has featured
India as a major cyber crime hub in near future.
