INTRODUCTION

 Additional bridge construction which

link Kuantan City and Putra City,
Tanjung Lumpur crossing the
Kuantan River is under construction

 The presence of the new bridge piers

will effect the water flow at the
Kuantan River

 Simulation analysis using HEC-RAS

Software is used to determine the
water surface profile

SECOND BRIDGE
PROBLEM STATEMENT

 Having a new bridge crossing

Kuantan River may gives impact to
the flow of water at the Kuantan
River

 Presence of the obstruction (piers)

increasing the water level and the
flow of water at that area

 During monsoon season, the risk of

having flood events at the Kuantan
River is high
OBJECTIVE

 To analyze the hydrological data for the critical month using HEC-RAS
software

 To investigate the water profile due to the presence of new bridge piers

 To determine the 100 year flood level

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

LOCATION  KUANTAN RIVER, KUANTAN

PAHANG

 HEC- HMS SOFTWARE

METHOD USED
 HEC- RAS SOFTWARE

 LOCATION PLAN
 CROSS SECTION OF KUANTAN RIVER
 BRIDGE DESIGN
DATA REQUIRED
 HYDROLOGICAL DATA INCLUDES WEKLY AND
MONTHLY READING FOR 2 YEARS STUDIES
(2016- 2018)
SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

 The analysis of the Kuantan River

using the real rainfall events can be
used for future river construction
and urban development area

 Determination of water profile with

the presence of the bridge piers can
be used for flood mitigation in order
to prevent future flooding
