Composite curve
• Composite-curve are temperature-enthalpy profile of hot and cold
streams in a process and represented by graphs.
• This needs heat integration.
• It is based on laws of thermodynamics.
Composite curve
•  For heat integration, two parameters are important that is enthalpy
change and T.
Hot composite curve
Flexibility

Shifting of the curve horizontally is allowed provided

• Ts and TT do not change
• Temperature interval does not change
• Slope of the curve does not change
• ∆H does not change
Flexibility

Shifting of the curve vertically is NOT allowed

Flexibility

Splitting of the curve horizontally is allowed.

Stream Ts (oC) Tt (oC) CP (MW/K) ∆H (MW)
Hot 1 250 40 0.15 31.5
Hot 2 200 80 0.25 30

Do heat integration by plotting hot composite curve.
