FOLK DANCE
× A form of social dancing that has become part
of the customs and tradition of people.

× Most folk dances were developed among


people in villages and were passed on from
generation to generation in a particular region
(Sachs, 1978).

× Each folk dance has its own pattern.


Similarities, however, exists among dances of
particular country and among dances of
different countries where cultures have
intermingled (Santiago & Esclabanan, 1979).
