What is a CORRECT sentence?

A correct and coherent sentence is a group of


words that contain a subject, a verb, and make
a complete thought.

1. All sentences begin with a capital letter and end


with a period (.), a question mark (?), or an
exclamation mark (!).

2. A sentence can be short, medium length, or


long and still be correct.
What is a COHERENT sentence?

All the words in the sentence, when considered


together, make a whole idea .

Examples:

The chair in the parlor.

The chair in the parlor was covered in brown


leather.

• Coordination gives equal attention to two items.

Subordination gives less attention to one idea so that the
