DURING COVID19
INTRODUCTION
• Mental health is the state of well-being in which an individual
recognizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses
of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to
his or her community as defined by WHO.

• During this Covid-19 Pandemic, public health actions were

implemented like social distancing which is necessary to reduce the
spread of COVID-19, can make people feel isolated and lonely and
can increase stress and anxiety.
INTRODUCTION

• We are amid an unprecedented public health crisis, yet we also have

an extraordinary opportunity to come together within our families and
our communities to improve the understanding of mental health.

• We hope these advocacy will help to spread positive messages of

hope, compassion, mental health care and suicide prevention during
this time of uncertainty.
BACKGROUND OF THE EXISTING
ISSUES or PROBLEM

• Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46%

of teenagers and 13% of children each year. The National
Center for Mental Health (NCMH) has revealed a
significant increase in monthly hotline calls regarding
depression, with numbers rising from 80 calls to nearly
400 during the lockdown.
BACKGROUND OF THE EXISTING
ISSUES or PROBLEM

• With a high proportion of children and adolescents

affected by mental disorders, it is important to ensure
that they are provided with proper care and treatment.

• Globally, an estimated 10 to 20% of children and

adolescents are affected by mental health problems, with
more than half occurring before the age of 14.

address the stigma associated with mental health illness and help
prevent suicidal circumstances amidst the unprecedented public

advocacy on the importance of mental health to both parents and
students.

dialogue with their friends and loved ones, to demonstrate
compassion and kindness to those who may be isolated and need
the extra support .

• These actions can save lives and positively change our collective
culture surrounding mental health for the long-term. Our advocacy
is promoting resiliency amidst the uncertainty.
OBJECTIVES

increasing numbers of people who have mental problems through
the use of different modes in disseminating information accessible
