sympathized with the poor people. He
hoped to attract the attention of the rich
people to the injustice that exists in
society and to re-educate them with
his own works. His novel “A Christmas
Carol" is dedicated to this topic.
Stave One «Marley`s Ghost» : plot

Description of the hero: «The cold

within him froze his old features,
nipped his pointed nose, shrivelled
his cheek, stiffened his gait; made
his eyes red, his thin lips blue; and
spoke out shrewdly in his grating
voice. A frosty rime was on his head,
and on his eyebrows, and his wiry
chin».
 It was Christmas Eve. Scrooge was unhappy. He didn’t like the
holidays, because in those days money was wasted. And he did not
spend money on pranks.
Scrooge lived in an apartment that once belonged to Marley. But
this evening he had a very unexpected meeting! Scrooge never
believed in ghosts, but that time his face changed as soon as he saw
Marley's face in front of him.
It was him, it was Marley. A
long chain surrounded him
and dragged on the floor like
a tail. It consisted of keys,
blocks, documents and heavy
wallets with iron clasps. The
ghost's body was completely
transparent.
Marley told Scrooge that he must think of mercy and atone
for his sins. He also warned that he would be visited by
three more Spirits…

 Summary
I have only read one part of this
book so far, but I can assure you
that, this story is fascinating and
full of fiction and magic. The
main hero of the work will meet
the three spirits of Christmas
and we will find out what will
come out of this at the next
presentation our home readings.
