1. A ship is 180 km dues west of a
lighthouse A. Lighthouse B is 230.6
km due south of lighthouse A. Find
the bearing of lighthouse B from the
ship.
2. A plane is 195 km north and 137
km east of an airport. If the pilot
wants to fly directly to the airport,
what bearing should he take and how
many km will that be?
3. A boat leaves the port and sails 35
km east. It then changes its course
toward north and sails 50 km. What
is the bearing of the boat from the
port? What is the distance of the boat
from the port?
4. Two police stations are on the
North-South lines. The bearing of
municipal hall from the second police
station is N67E. If the two police
stations are 28 km apart, how far is
the municipal hall from police station

5. Two lighthouses are on the East-
West line. The bearing of a ship from
the first lighthouse is N55E, and the
bearing from the other lighthouse is
N35W. How far apart are the
lighthouses if the ship is 8 km from
the first lighthouse? How far is the
second lighthouse from the ship?
6. Town A and Town B lie on the
East-West line and are 63.9 km
apart. Town C is N25W from Town A,
and is N75E from Town B. How far is
Town C from two towns?
7. From an observation point A, a
surveyor sights a landmarking a
direction S48W. From another point
B, 500 meters due west of A, the
landmark is sighted S42E. Determine
the distance of the landmark from
point A and from point B.
