CIRCUMFERENCE OF A CIRCLE

Diameter - is any straight

line segment that passes Radius - a straight line
through the center of the from the center to the
RADIUS
circle and whose circumference of a
endpoints lie on the DIAMETER
circle
circle. It can also be
defined as the longest
chord of the circle.

CENTER
AREA OF A CIRCLE

• The area of a circle is:

π (Pi) times the Radius squared: A = π r2
or, when you know the Diameter: A = (π/4) × D2
or, when you know the Circumference: A = C2 / 4π
CIRCUMFERENCE OF A CIRCLE
• We can say:
Circumference = π × Diameter
• Also note that the Diameter is twice the Radius:
Diameter = 2 × Radius
• And so this is also true:
Circumference = 2 × π × Radius
SECTOR AREA

The area of a sector is a

fraction of the area of the
circle. This area is
proportional to the central
angle. In other words, the
bigger the central angle, the
larger is the area of the sector.
ARC LENGTH

Arc length is the

distance between
the endpoints along
the circle.
