DESIGN FOR ENVIRONMENT

/LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS

What is
Design For
the Environment?
• Design for the Environment (DFE) is a method to minimize or
eliminate environmental impacts of a product over its life cycle.
• Effective DFE practice maintains or improves product quality and cost
while reducing environmental impacts.
• DFE expands the traditional manufacturer’s focus on the production
and distribution of its products to a closed loop lifecycle.

• Usage of 100% recycled tin in the solder of the main logic boards in most
popular devices.

• Using low carbon materials and processors to reduce the overall carbon
footprint of its products around the world

• Goal: Products to be made entirely with clean energy by 2030 by

transitioning hundreds of it’s manufacturing suppliers to 100% renewable
sources of electricity.
A final message on green design..

This is important,
This is our responsibility,
This is a great opportunity…
