Typ

(Type Foucs, 2020)

My personality is descriptive at ESFJ in the above description it talks about being conscientious and
cooperative, honest and concerned about others. These gifts are beneficial for a teacher. You have to a
conscience nature about your students, be cooperative with others, and concerned that you students
are learning what you are teaching. And if they are not learning you have to be adaptable to new ways
so they can learn.
(Type Foucs, 2020)

My Self Assessment started with me taking a type focus aptitude test. From this test, I learned my personality
and talents make me a good candidate for becoming an Elementary School Teacher. I have been interested in
learning how a child develops mentally for a few years and believe that learning different teaching techniques
would be a great benefit to me.

“Educators Develop the Whole Child”
In my FACS text book it says, “ an Educator promotes the health of the
whole child (social, emotional, cognitive and physical development)
through creative learning activities.”

This is what I love about teaching. You have the influence to teach a
child how to develop proper learning techniques in a fun playful
environment.
( Kato, S 2015)
Communications with Parents and Students
Do you enjoy working as a team to help others succeed? Then being an
educator is perfect for you. “As a childhood educator you will build
relationships with parents and involve them as a partner in their child’s
education.” ( Kato, S 2005)

I taught and therefore was taught.

Seven years ago I volunteered for a reading program taught by an amazing
teacher Mrs. Wangemann. She needed tutors and I have always loved
helping students with reading and wanted to learn more about this
program. What developed was a desire to help all students achieve their
learning potential. After volunteering for four years, I was asked by Mrs.
Wangemann if I would be interested in taking over as Star Reading
Coordinator. I said yes and spent the next three years running the program.
It took someone believing in me for me to gain the confidence that I could
become a teacher.

Me in 30 seconds

Hello my name is Sharlyn Devenish, and I am interested in the Reading Teacher position you are currently advertising. I have seven years experiences
working in the reading and literacy field with students age 6-12. I have organized schedules and trained tutors to work with students in the Star Reading
Program developed by AmeriCorps. I have volunteered over 100 hours of community service as a part of the AmeriCorps program. My passion for
helping students succeed helped my program to show an 80% increase in reading skills for my students. I know my ambition and sincerity can bring that
same success to your students.
The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE)

“The Association for Career and technical Education” (ACTE) (Kato S. 2015 p. 51). From this chapter. I learned about ACTE and the benefits it can bring
by belonging to such a powerful organization. This organization is large and becoming an associate gives you many opportunities to be aware of
problems affecting our education here in America. By becoming involved you are aware of what is happening in our legislative meetings and how the
government is affecting education. This allows you to be aware of any problems that might exist and to be among those working to find a solution. By
working together and building off each other’s ideas you could be the one to have the ideas needed to resolve the situation. One thing I thought of, was
the importance of making education accessible to all who desire to learn.

One thing that drew me to this organization was the diverse careers it includes in it’s realm of training. For example, I want to be a teacher. This
organization would give me the ability to improve student’s educations, by being aware of the “education, employment skills and trade skills available to
them.” (Kato, S. 2015 p. 51) This would help me give advice and educate my students of job opportunities or skills that could benefit them as adults.
