Present Simple

• use for the things that are generally or always true


• repeated actions (habits)
• routine

• permanent sutiations
• schedule (permanent)
• Ex. The bus #6 arrives at 10.15
Questions (subject and object)
• Who manages the company?
• Who do you work with?
• Which transport do I need to take?
• Which transport goes to the city centre?
• What makes you happy?
• What do you do to be happy?
Expressions of frequency
• Use adverbs of frequency (always, often,
usually, sometimes, rarely, hardly ever, never)
before the verb and after the verb to be.
• I always wear uniform at work.
• I am always in a hurry.
• Some adverbs (sometimes, usually, often) can
be at the beginning of the sentence)
• Sometimes I go to the gym during the week.
Adverbial phrases
• Use at the beginning or at the end of the
sentence:
• Every hour/day/week/month/year/Sunday
• Most days/weeks/weekends
• Once a day/week/month/year
• At the weekend/ at 10 o’clock
• In the spring/the summer
Indirect Questions:
• use with the fixed expressions when you want to be
more polite: I was wondering… Could I ask you… Could
you tell me… Would you be so kind to tell me…
Ex. Where is the nearest police station?
Could you tell me where the nearest police station is.
Ex. Can you come to the party?
I wonder if you can come to the party.
Ex. Does the plane take off at 9 o’clock?
Would you be so kind to tell me if the plane takes off at 9
o’clock?
