Hiring process
The hiring process for Operations manager at Amazon is done through
Internal recruitment, employee referrals , campus recruitments and though
Internet job posting .
• The selection process is mostly common across all these mentioned
methods :
1) Scenario based Aptitude round
2) Interview rounds which includes
a) Technical fit Interview
b) Behavioral fit interview
• Training and development:
• L& D team at Amazon conducts training for new hires as well as exiting employees.
• Any Recruit at Amazon undergoes mandatory -2 to 3 week program on Amazon culture , values and Behaviors.
• After the Mandatory Culture training , Operations managers are introduced to various operations domain specific training which
includes Service operations, Ware house operations as well as distribution center operations , later they are Given On-the job training
along with the senior executive and after successful validation , Operations manager is given an Independent role.
• Employees are given some job related certifications from Amazon Technical Academy.
• Company pays around 95% of Course fee to employee , if he takes any course which is trending and in demand . It is irrespective of
whether those skills are used in Amazon or not.
Performance management system:
• Stack Ranking performance management:
• Its annual review process where employee’s performance is measured and ranked, employees are evaluated against
their metrices
• Continuous Feedback:
• ‘Anytime Feedback Tool’ is used, where workers can anonymously praise or critique colleagues
• So Amazon is working on measuring employee performance annually as well as continuously without hampering each
other.
Performance Improvement plan:
• Employees who have a lower rating from both stack ranking and Continuous feedback system are put on 3 month
training for them to improve , or else showed them the way.
