1 Control Menu - give the menu for closing, minimizing,

maximizing, moving and resizing the window


Menu Bar – it displays the different menus 2
(File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Table,
Window, and Help)
Toolbars
Contain icons that allow you quick access to common commands. 3 4
By default Word displays the Standard and Formatting toolbars.

Standard Toolbar - includes buttons for several basic features such
as opening, saving, printing, spell checking, copying, and pasting. 3
Formatting Toolbar – includes buttons that take care of most of
your formatting needs such as changing font style, aligning, and 4
creating bulleted list.
Drawing Toolbar – includes buttons for drawing
features such as auto shapes, word arts, lines, 5
shadows styles, and shadows setting.
Resizing Buttons 6
Includes buttons that control the appearance of your
Windows
Minimize - is used to hid program and document, 6
and reduce the Window to an icon and place it on the
Taskbar.
Restore and Maximize - is used to enlarge the 6
appearance of your Window.
Close - is used to close the program or document Window. Clicking 6
the close button on the title bar closes Word; Clicking button for the
documents closes the active documents but leaves the Word open.

Scroll Bars – because your computer screen is smaller than a


standard piece of paper, part of your text is usually hidden. Scroll
bars are used to move around the screen. It can either be vertically
or horizontally.

Task Pane – performs different task as the user have wanted. For
example once your are inserting a clip art, you will notice that the
Task Pane changes to Clip Art Pane.

Insertion Point – the blinking vertical line near the top of the
screen. It reflects the new text location.

Ruler – it shows the margin, tab, and indent settings. You can
change the settings by dragging markers on the ruler.

View Buttons – located at the lower left corner of the document


screen. It is used to change the way your document is displayed
on the screen (Normal, Outline, Page Layout, Reading, and Online).

Status Bar – located at the bottom of the screen. It gives you


information about what’s going on in your document. It tells the
pages you are on, the total number of pages, and the location of
your insertion point.
13 Title Bar – it is located at the top of the Word screen. It displays
the name of application and documents.

Office Assistant – it provides Help topics on task you perform as


you work automatically.
TYPING AREA

The area where you actually do the work/document it self.
