Council  Selection and term of office : The SG is appointed by the General Assembly

 Role: The SG was envisioned by US President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a
“world moderator”. The SG is the “chief administrative officer” of the UN
(Article 97)
 History: There are 9 SG in UN history. The current SG is Antonio Guterres.
4. International Court of Justice

Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Netherlands, Peru, Poland
and Sweden.
6. Veto power and electoral: The Five permanent members hold veto power over
UN resolutions, allowing a permanent member to block adoption of a
resolution, though not debate. The ten temporary sears are held for two year
terms, with five member states per year voted in by the General Assembly on a
regional basis.
6. Economic and Social Council

administered in the best interest of their inhabitants and of international pace
