• The Rizal Bill was created in the
1950's. Why does Jose P. Laure
and Claro M. Recto insisted on
passing it during the postwar era?
The RA1425 also known as the Rizal bill states that every
public and private schools, colleges, and universities
should include courses about the life, and works of Jose
Rizal, particularly his novels Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo, in their curricula.
Jose P. Laurel and Claro M. Recto was the sponsors of the
Rizal bill which they insist during the postwar era. They are
eager to implement this bill during postwar in a reason that
they want to grab the opportunity to introduce the law where
everyone is settled down. They project that passing this bill
will enlighten and educate everyone from the works of Dr. Jose Rizal. Countless
debates were done for this law and fortunately their efforts paid off as well as the
sacrifices of Jose Rizal for our country. They are determined to implement this law
for the youth to realize that they hold the future of the Philippines.
• How did the catholic church
and the government comprise
to make this bill into a law?
The Republic act No 1425 or the Rizal Law has been criticized by
difference groups specially the catholic church and some in the
Legislative house. This law was pass through a lot of hardships for
years, because of some revisions and complaint from the opposition.
However, because of Jose P. Laurel and Claro M. Recto, the long
disagreement and debate by both parties was being settled. The
complain of the opposition was being recognized such as, the
restriction of vulgar words towards the catholic church. The bill was
signed on June 12, 1956 and was officially declare a Law.
On the first when bill aired was declined, and
substitution followed, and after less heat debated,
one from opposition side proposed to the
government side assertation of exception of
learners govern whose belong on profane
foundation imprimatur after the section 1 of the
bill, and a quite propitious development to its
effect.
• Do you agree with this
law? Or do you have any
suggestions? Justify your
answer.
I agree with this law, but in order to fully understand what
truly happen during the Spanish Colonization in the
Philippines. The DepEd, CHED and other sector in the
government must provide the other side of the story or
perhaps, a story that contradicts the point of view of Jose
Rizal. I suggest to find some articles or books that was made
by the Spanish during their stay in the Philippines about 333
years ago and their perspective of what happen during the
colonization.
I absolutely agree with this law even though I have not read all the
works, writings and novel of Jose P. Rizal. Based on my
experiences in high school towards learning Noli-Me-tangere and
El-Filibusterismo taught me a lot through the words of our
national hero. However, I suggest that teaching this subject would
require deeper understanding the message behind the works of
Rizal. I also recommend that the discussion about the subject
would stick on the purpose of Rizal's work.
I, Agreed. However, there is one thing we always need to
remembered, is, respect. Respect for the law, respect for
Jose Rizal great sacrifices to the country's independence
and freedom and self-respect.
I agree to this law because it was made so that the
Filipinos, specially the youth will not forget him.
But the questions remain, why we should not forget him.?
The teaching of Rizal course in the classroom was intended
to awaken the sense of patriotism and nationalism in every
Filipino youth and force them to apply the principles
I agree with this law in order to
understand what our country being
experienced before achieving the true
freedom.
