The word “Mobile” and its history
In ordinary language The word “mobile” means some thing
that is capable of moving or being moved readily.

The word "mobile" has a storied history in the computer

world. The term was initially used in the 1980s to
describe computers that you could take with you and use while
you were on-the-go. These devices eventually became small
and light enough to fit on your lap and were known as laptops.
For many years, "mobile" differentiated between desktop
computers and their portable counterparts.

In digital Technology it is pertaining to or noting a cell

phone, usually one with computing ability, or a portable

Mobile Devices
A mobile phone, cell phone, cellphone, or hand phone,
sometimes shortened to simply mobile, cell or just phone, is a
portable telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio
frequency link while the user is moving within a telephone
service area.

As we mentioned above When the first mobile phones were

introduced, their only function was to make and receive calls,
and they were so bulky it was impossible to carry them in a
pocket.

As these devices evolved, they became smaller and more

features were added, such as multimedia messaging service
(MMS), which allowed users to send and receive images. Most
of these MMS-capable devices were also equipped with
cameras, which allowed users to capture photos, add captions,
and send them to friends and relatives who also had MMS-
capable phones. 10

A mobile phone typically operates on a

cellular network, which is composed of
cell sites scattered throughout cities,
countrysides and even mountainous
regions. If a user happens to be located in
an area where there is no signal from any
cell site belonging to the cellular network
provider he or she is subscribed to, calls
cannot be placed or received in that
location.
