ORGANIZATION OF PRESENTATION
• INTRODUCTION
• PRINCIPLE
• WORKING
• CONCLUSION
• A six stroke engine has two power strokes : one with fuel and other with
steam or air.
• When the combustion chamber reach approx 200 degree. Just before the
fifth stroke, fresh water is injected directly into the hot chamber. Which is
quickly turned into superheated steam, which cause the water to expand
and forces the piston down for an additional power stroke
4
WORKING
• SUCTION STROKE: The piston moves from top to bottom and air fuel
mixture is sucked into cylinder
• COMPRESSION STROKE: The piston moves bottom to top and the
mixture is compressed to high temperature and pressure
• POWER STROKE : The fuel is ignited and the pressure inside the cylinder
increases rapidly. It pushes the piston down
• RECOMPRESSION : This is again compressed
• SECONDARY POWER STROKE: Water is injected to the hot chamber in
form of fine droplets. The water turns into vapour and increases the
volume. It pushes the the piston down
• EXHAUST STROKE : The burned gases ejected through exhaust valve

THERMAL EFFICIENCY
7
• ADVANTAGES OF SIX STROKE ENGINE
• No external cooling required
• Reduction in fuel consumption
• Reduction in pollution
• Better thermal efficiency
DISADVANTAGES OF SIX STROKE ENGINE
• Injecting cold water onto a hot metal piston can damage it over
time
• Separate water tank would have significant weight and space
• Anti-freezing measures would be needed in cold climate
• High initial cost
• Increased engine size due to additional strokes
