MITIGATING SECURITY THREATS
-Risk mitigation is accomplished by decreasing the
threat level by eliminating or intercepting the adversary before
they attack, or blocking opportunities through enhanced
security.
A. SECURE SHELL (SSH) CONNECTIONS
Secure Shell (SSH) is a software standard to support
encrypted data transfer between two computers. It can
be used to support secure logins, file transfers or general
purpose connects. Servers maintained by ITS require SSH-
based connections in most cases.

• How do you mitigate privacy risks?


- Conduct periodic assessments of risk and controls to identify gaps in
privacy and security. Update policies, procedures, and technology ,
specifying what to do if a breach has occurred.

• What is a privacy risk?


-Privacy Risk is defined as the “potential loss of control over personal
information”. Although an individual may consent to the use of his or her
personal information, the “loss of control” occurs when the organization
fails to provide adequate safeguards.

PATCH MANAGEMENT
Patch Management is the process that
helps acquire, test and install
multiple patches on existing applications
and software tools on a computer, enabling
systems to stay updated on existing
patches and determining which patches are
the appropriate ones.
