ACRES OF DIAMOND (RUSSEL CONWELL)

Russell Herman Conwell (February 15, 1843 –


December 6, 1925) was an American Baptist 
minister, orator, philanthropist, lawyer, and writer.
He is best remembered as the founder and first
president of Temple University in Philadelphia, as
the Pastor of The Baptist Temple, and for his
inspirational lecture, "Acres of Diamonds". He was
born in South Worthington, Massachusetts.

THE PRODIGAL SON’S PERSPECTIVE

The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share

of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

• He wants to search for happiness away from his father


and his father’s house
• He justified his action (Verse: 15)
• He was ashamed
• He came to his senses (Verse 17)
THE BROTHER’S PERSPECTIVE
(VERSE 25:29)

• His father was unfair to him


• He does all the work
• He was not valued by the father
• He forgot what he has
THE FATHER’S PERSPECTIVE

“‘MY SON,’ THE FATHER SAID, ‘YOU ARE ALWAYS WITH ME,

AND EVERYTHING I HAVE IS YOURS. 32 BUT WE HAD TO


CELEBRATE AND BE GLAD, BECAUSE THIS BROTHER OF YOURS
WAS DEAD AND IS ALIVE AGAIN; HE WAS LOST AND IS
FOUND.’”

• He love them both


• He lost a son and returned
• The second son owns everything he has.
