The Lost Coin

Material: One peso Coin

Verse: Luke 15:8-10
Memory Verse: Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that
which was lost.

Lesson:
The parable of the lost coin is the story of a woman who loses one of her ten
silver coins. She looks through her entire house and rejoices when she finds the
coin. After finding this coin, the lady makes it seem like one coin has become more
valuable than all of the other nine coins.
In this parable, Jesus depicts God's love for people who live a sinful life.
They are lost, estranged from their true owner, God. However, the owner (the
Creator of the universe) never gives up on people. Instead, he searches for them
compassionately, freely offering them forgiveness through his Son, Jesus Christ.
He extends his hand to them. When they accept his offer, heaven erupts in a
raucous celebration. A sinner has returned home; a person has been reconciled with
God.

The Prodigal Son

Material: Visual Aids
Verse:  Luke 15:11–32
Memory Verse: Luke 15: 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is
found.

Lesson:
There was a very rich person. He was the father of two sons. The first son worked very hard. He
was always respectful to his father. He was a very good and nice man. The second son, on the
other hand, was nothing like the first. He was sluggish. He did not work in his father's line of
work. He had disobeyed his father. He desired to live a happy and free life.
The younger son said to his father one day. "Father, please give me my share of the property."
The father was heartbroken. He divided the estate. The property was divided among the two
sons. He left the house with his fair share. He traveled to a faraway land. He made a lot of
friends there. He lavished his wealth on his friends, foods, and beverages. He, too, had a lot of
bad habits. He squandered all of the funds. He was soon out of money. This was noticed by his
friends. They all abandoned him one by one.
There was a famine in that land at the time. He was unable to find work. His friends did not give
him food or money. He was forced to take a low-wage job. It was his responsibility to feed the
pigs. He frequently ate the food reserved for the pigs. He was depressed about his current
situation. He quickly began to think of his father and brother. “In my father's house, even the
servants have enough food,” he thought to himself. They, too, are provided with adequate
shelter. But I'm struggling for food and shelter here. I'll return to my father. I will humbly request
that he accept me as his servant."

So the prodigal son decided to return to his father's house. Meanwhile, his father was constantly
thinking about his second son. He preferred to sit near the windows. He'd look out the window,
expecting his son to return home.
His father noticed his son approaching from a distance one day. He ran out of his house,
overjoyed. On the way, he ran into his son. His son knelt before him. “Father, I am not fit to be
your son,” he declared. Please accept me as your servant."
His father gently lifted him. He hugged him. He addressed his servants. “Bring your best robe,”
he said. Place it on my son. Put a ring on each of his fingers and shoes on each of his feet.
Assassinate the fattened calf. Make a feast. Let us eat and enjoy ourselves. My son had gone
missing. He is now fount."
The elder son was on his way home from work. He could hear music and dancing coming from
his house. He inquired of one of his servants about it. “Your brother has arrived,” his servant
informed him. Your father is overjoyed at his return. A fattened calf has been slaughtered in
preparation for a delicious feast and celebration."
The first son was furious. He refused to let anyone into his home. The father emerged. He
begged his elder son to join him in his joy. “I have obeyed you all these years,” the elder son
said. I completed all of your tasks. But you never gave me a child to play with my friends. This
son squandered all of your resources. And you get him a fattened calf!"

“My dear son, you are always with me,” his father replied. My entire estate is now yours. Your
younger brother was no longer alive. He is now alive. He had no idea where he was. He has now
been apprehended. So why shouldn't we rejoice?"

The elder son recognized the love behind his father's words. He had completely forgotten about
his younger brother. He decided to join in the festivities. He was overjoyed.
