PARABLES OF JESUS

Maria Priscilla E. Olavere

Grade 3 -St. Cecilia
THE PRODIGAL SON
Luke 15:11-32
There was a father who had two sons.
One day, the younger son asked
his father for his inheritance.

Father, can I get

my inheritance
now?
The father, who loved his
sons, gave in to the request
of his younger son.

I will give your

inheritance as you
please.
After the younger son received his
inheritance from his father, he left their
house.

The younger son travelled and

wasted all the money from his
father on parties, drinks and other
things that are not important.
Just when the younger son had
used up all his inheritance,
there was a shortage of food.

He had to find a job so he

would not die of hunger.
One day, while the younger son was working,he
remembered his father and thought how his life would
have been easier if he was living with his father.

If I am still living with my

father, I do not have to work.
My father’s servants have better
lives than mine now.
The younger son planned on going
back to his father’s house, say sorry
to his father and ask if he could
work for his father because he is
not worthy to be his son.
However, the moment
the father saw his
younger son again, the
father had forgiven him.
The father asked his servants
to prepare a party, prepare
clothes for his younger son to
wear and kill a fat calf to eat.
When the older son arrived at their house, he
noticed a celebration so he asked one of the
servants who told him that the celebration is for
the return of his younger brother.

I had been very good to my father

all these years yet I was never given
a celebration!
Your younger brother has
been lost and now is found.
We should be happy about it!
Our God is forgiving; we should be, too.
We should spend money on our needs and not too much on our wants.
We should be thankful for all things, how little they may seem.
Everyone is important.
God and our parents love us unconditionally.
LIVING OUT THE LESSON OF
THE PRODIGAL SON
☞ I will live out the lessons in the parable of The Prodigal Son by
learning and trying hard to forgive persons who do or might do me wrong.
I will try to be like the father in the story.

☞ I will appreciate everything that God gives me and I will not waste
His gifts.

☞ I will also love God and my parents no matter what happens.

☞ A person might lose faith or turn his back on God but if he/she
returns and believes in God again, I know that God will forgive him/her.
